3. ADA Compliant Lockers

The Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) specifies certain requirements that affect lockers.

Single tier lockers: the shelf and coat hooks must be lowered to no more than 48" above the floor

Double tier lockers: Only the lower opening of a double tier locker may be used for ADA compliance.

Single and Double Tier: An extra shelf needs to be added to bring the bottom of the locker to no lower than 9" above the floor. In addition, only the recessed handle meets the ADA specifications. See the lock section for an ADA compliant lock.

4. Base Condition

Option Select Qty

No Legs

Lockers are typically specified with no legs when they are to sit directly on the floor, or are to be mounted on a wood on concrete base.

6" Legs

Adding 6" legs raises the bottom of the locker off of the floor. This will keep the locker bottom dry in damp environments.

Front Base

(Requires 6" Legs)

Front Bases close off the space between the 6" legs at the front of the locker to keep debris from accumulating below the locker.

Typically one Front Base per frame is specified.

End Base

(Requires 6" Legs)

End Bases close off the space between 6" legs at the end of a row of lockers. This keeps debris from accumulating below the locker.

Typically specified only for the exposed end of a row of lockers.

Zee Base

Zee Bases provide a 4" tall "kitchen cabinet style" toe space below the lockers.

To receive a quotation for Zee Bases, you must provide us with a fully dimensioned plan view layout of your locker requirement.

Flat Tops

Standard Configuration

Unit Slope Tops

These sloped tops are for new lockers only. The flat top is omitted on lockers with Unit Slope Tops. When these are specified, a taller back and side is provided, with the side mitered to properly fill the end of the slope top.

Unit slope tops rise 1/3 the depth of the locker, i.e.: 4" rise on a 12" deep locker. Unit slope tops are 24 ga.

Slope Top Kits

Sloped Top Kits fit over new or existing lockers with flat tops, and come in groups of three. Each kit consists of 3 sloped tops, 4 sloped top ends, and 3 sloped top backs.

When used over existing lockers, the bolts at the side and back of the flat top must be removed. Sloped Top Kits are 24 ga. construction.

These sloped tops rise 1/3 the depth of the locker, i.e.: 4" rise for 12" deep lockers.

Continuous Slope Hoods

These fit over the flat tops on new or existing lockers. These tops provide a cleaner appearance than Unit Slope tops.

Sloped Hoods are provided in 72" lengths, and cut to fit in the field. Sloped hoods are 18 ga., as opposed to 24 ga. for Unit Slope Tops or Slope Top Kits.

Sloped Hoods rise 1/3 the depth of the locker plus 1", i.e.: 5" rise for 12" deep lockers.

A fully dimensioned drawing of the locker layout must be provided to price Continuous Slope Hoods.

7. Door and Ventilation Options

Options

Select

Standard Door

Lockers with doors 36" - 72" high will have two sets of louvers. One near the top, and one near the bottom. Doors less than 36" high have one set of louvers.

Mini Louvers

Smaller louvers which provide ventilation and security without being able to view the contents.

Delete Louvers

Lockers may be ordered without louvers in the doors. This provides a cleaner appearance, and does not allow the contents of the locker to be viewed.

Visual Perforations

This option replaces the standard louvers with Rectangular perforations that are 5/8" wide x 1 1/8" high. These slots provide greater ventilation, and allow for visual inspection of the locker contents.

Ventilation slots

These optional slots in the top and bottom flange of the locker door provide more ventilation.

Fire Extinguisher Door

A Fire Extinguisher Door adds a cutout and glass panel to the locker door. Fire extinguisher is not included.

This option may be used in single or double tier lockers that are 12" or 15" wide. If recessed handles are specified, the minimum width is 15".

Quantity of Fire Extinguisher Doors required

Waste Bin Door

(Requires deleting louvers)

The Waste Bin Door adds a cutout and hinged flap to the locker door. Waste receptacle for placement inside the locker is not included.

Quantity of Waste Bin Doors Required

Sound Dampening Panels
(Requires deleting louvers)

Sound dampening panels are welded to the inside of the locker door to reduce noise when doors are slammed shut.

These panels may be used in any door 20" to 72" high.

9. Locker Body Options

Option

Select

Center Partition

Center Partitions are used to divide the space below the shelf in a single tier locker. A typical usage is where work clothes and street clothes need to be kept separate.

Center Partitions are available for all depths of lockers from 12" to 24". If a hanger is to be used to hang clothes, the locker should be a minimum of 18" deep.

You may also wish to add a coat rod for each side of this locker configuration.

Add Coat Rods

Coat rods slip over coat rod hooks which are bolted to the side of the locker or center partition.

Single tier lockers from 18" - 24" deep include a coat rod. All others only have coat hooks. When a coat rod is added, the standard double prong ceiling hook is deleted.

If lockers are to have a center partition, the standard coat rod in an 18" - 24" deep locker will need to be replaced with smaller coat rods, and additional coat rod hooks.

Extra Shelf

Single Tier Lockers come with one shelf positioned approximately 9" below the top. No other locker configurations include a shelf as a standard item.

Extra shelves may be added to most lockers with this option.

When ordering extra shelves, you will need to inform us of the locations of any extra shelves so that the sides may be punched with mounting holes as required.

Quantity of extra shelves per opening

16 ga. Shelf

Single Tier Lockers 60" h. or taller, come standard with a 24 ga. Shelf. Adding a 16 ga. shelf provides extra strength and durability.

16 ga. Top

Lockers come standard with 24 ga. tops. 16 ga. tops provide extra strength and durability.

16 ga. Intermediate

Intermediates divide the space between openings in Double Tier Lockers. They come standard in 24 ga. Adding a 16 ga. intermediate provides extra strength and durability.

16 ga. Bottom

Lockers come standard with 24 ga. bottoms. 16 ga. bottoms provide extra strength and durability.

Galvanized Bottom

Galvanizing the bottoms adds extra corrosion resistance in damp environments.

Stainless Steel Bottom

Stainless Steel provides better corrosion resistance

Plastic Bottoms

This option replaces the metal bottom with a plastic alternative. These bottoms are rust proof, impervious to chlorine, salt water and cleaners. They are available in tan or gray colors only.

Add Round Perforations

Round perforations provide additional ventilation. 1/2" diameter holes placed on 1" centers can be added to the backs, sides, tops, bottoms, or shelves of the lockers. There are 42 holes per location, in a 5 1/2" w x 6 1/2" h group. Tops, bottoms, and shelves will only have one group of holes. When choosing this option, you must specify which components will receive the round perforations.

This option may only be applied to lockers with
24 gage parts.

16 ga. Exposed End-No Extra Holes

Lockers are manufactured with the sides pre-punched to accommodate several different lockers with only one side.
These sides can be used for single, double, triple, five, and six tier lockers. If you have a single tier locker, there are several unused holes punched in the sides.

You would choose this option for the exposed end of a row of lockers for a more finished appearance.

Number of 16 ga. exposed ends required

10. Filler Panel Options

Option

Click on a link for more information

Select

Vertical Filler Panels

Used to fill the vertical space between lockers or between the lockers and a wall.

Flat Top Filler Panels

Used to fill open spaces at the top of the lockers. Fillers are bolted, screwed, or riveted to the adjacent lockers. Flat top corner fillers will require wood blocking or other supports against the wall, which is not included.

Sloped Top Fillers

Used to fill open spaces at the top of the lockers. Fillers are bolted, screwed, or riveted to the adjacent lockers. Sloped top corner fillers will require wood blocking or other supports against the wall, which is not included.

Recessed Trim

Used where lockers are recessed into the wall, and/or a soffit is placed above the lockers. When recessed trim is used, a gap must be left between the wall and the lockers, and between the soffit and the lockers. This gap should be no less than 1", and no greater than 2". Recessed trim extends 3/8" in front of the wall and the locker.

A fully dimensioned drawing of the locker layout must be provided to price filler panels and trim.

11. Paint Options

Option

Click on an option for more information

Select

Standard Paint

Electrostatically applied spray paint in 20 different colors. This paint is baked on at 350-400 degrees.

Lockers are painted the same color inside and outside.

Powder Coat Paint

Powder coat paint is an optional cost-effective way of improving the durability and rust resistance of steel lockers. Tests have shown that powder coat paints dramatically outperform the conventional liquid painted electro-galvanized steel in salt spray and impact tests.

A 2 mil thick coating of powder coat enamel is applied by state-of-the-art equipment in an atmospherically controlled chamber, and is then baked at 400 degrees.

This produces a thicker coating without runs or drips, and adheres better to the metal.

Two Tone Paint

The lockers may be painted with the door frame being a contrasting color. Any of the standard colors may be used.

All doors within a frame must be the same color.

Anti-Graffiti Paint

(100 frames minimum order)

Anti-Graffiti Paint provides a surface coating that allows the easy removal of graffiti and resists corrosion. This specially formulated powder coat paint finish has a tight molecular structure that seals the locker surface, preventing graffiti and corrosive agents from penetrating the finish.

12. Locker Benches

Laminated hardwood benches with a clear lacquer finish.

The Heavy Duty Pedestal must be anchored to the floor. The Stainless Steel Pedestal does not require anchoring to the floor.
