DALLAS, TX – November
16, 2005 – Cisco-Eagle, Inc.:
In response to the needs of its internet customer base, Cisco-Eagle of Dallas,
Texas recently created an online estimator that allows website visitors to
create rack layouts, bill of materials, and estimates instantly.
“People need fast information,” said Scott Stone, Cisco-Eagle’s E-Business
Manager. “Everyone has prices on their websites these days, but if you want to
plot an entire project and see how it might fit in your space, you usually have
to call someone or wait a day or two—or longer—for them to get back to you. You
can’t go into someone’s site and expect to put together a bunch of uprights and
beams on your own, but with the Rack Estimator, that work is done for you.”
The Rack Estimator eliminates waiting time by allowing customers to obtain
budget pricing and preliminary drawings instantly. “Anyone can configure a rack
project on this, and all they need is a web browser,” Stone said. “It’s simple
and fast.”
Once a configuration has been entered, the customer can submit it to Cisco-Eagle
for refinement. “It’s not a quote,” Stone said. “It’s a starting point, but a
pretty accurate one. If customers want a quote, they submit their results to us
for refinement.” When they submit it, customers also receive a copy of the quote
and the drawings it generates in email for future reference.
“Customers can choose to store a specific number of pallets. They can also
choose to fill an entire space with rack,” Stone said. The estimator asks load
and dimension questions and returns a rack layout that will support the load and
fill the space most effectively. The estimator allows users to specify pallet
supports, column protectors, and other options for their pallet rack project.
The Pallet Rack Estimator is the first of a planned suite of material handling
configuration and estimation tools the company plans to release on its website.
Shelving, lockers, partitions, and other estimators are being created. The Rack
Estimator can be found at
