Curtains and Dividers Help Retain Climate, Protect Products

Portable Partitions, Curtain Walls, Sound Barriers and Eye Protection Systems

When I was a kid, on rainy days my friends and I used  kitchen chairs, old blankets and lots of clothespins and built our own special space for imaginary adventures. Our rag-tag shelter was temporary, but gave us the sensation of being in our own little world. Frequently, in manufacturing and warehousing facilities, work zones and independent departments need separation from the larger whole for either safety or autonomy purposes, and there are products out there that answer those needs. Products like curtain walls, acoustic walls, thermal barriers and welding screens.

Vinyl Curtain Walls – protective spacial dividers

Curtain walls separate work zones that might infringe on general areas of a facility that can be placed, then rolled away as needed for materials passage or other processes. Made in a wide variety of colors and material choices, they can be solid vinyl, part vinyl and part translucent plastic, or all clear vinyl, depending on your purposes for the walls. They generally run on roller tracks suspended from the ceiling and are easily opened and closed. Velcro strips usually provide closure at wall ends and provide a semi-secluded work space while also somewhat dampening external sound.  They make an excellent choice for wash bays, paint stations, airborne particle containment, and aid in climate control.

Acoustic Curtains – reduce noise levels

Acoustic curtains surround work areas that produce lots of noise from compressors, generators, welding equipment and machinery. Their sound absorption quality comes from dense internal materials that capture sound. On the outside they look like any other curtain wall, but thicker, and smoothly collapse into accordion folds when not being used. Suspended on a roller track system, they easily glide into place with very little effort. Once in place, though, they are able to reduce noise levels by as much as 45 decibels. Quite a significant change when one considers how much noise workers are often subjected to.

Welding Screens – optical and safety protection for onlookers and passersby

Whether in curtain or framed screen form, a welding screen keeps damaging UV light from passing through, helping protect the vision of fellow workers in a facility.  In addition to UV light protection, these screens also provide a passive layer of spark protection with material that withstands a shower of welding sparks while keeping onlookers safe – as well as protecting their sight.

Thermal Barriers – keeps hot things hot and cold things cold

That’s exactly what thermal barriers like strip doors do.  They keep a thermal barrier between temperature zones like cold storage and more temperate warehouse space, saving huge amounts on utilities while still allowing forklift and pallet truck traffic to conveniently transport frozen or chilled goods in and out.

Curtain walls and barriers – temporary but needed

These temporary walls are a very economical way to create specialized space, protect workers and save on utility bills without putting up permanent structures. They provide important functions whether you own your building or rent. Keep them in mind the next time someone says they need more space.
