February 26, 2016

AisleCop Gate Animation

AisleCop® forklift safety systems are used by  many companies concerned with the safety of pedestrians who work near forklifts in warehousing, manufacturing and other operations. The system relies on a series of gates, sensors and intelligent controls to manage dangerous, high-traffic, or limited visibility areas. Aside from general traffic applications, AisleCop® is also utilized in innovative ways to guard work cells and other areas where people and traffic interact.

In a major product upgrade, new pedestrian gate systems have been introduced to increase the visibility and versatility of the system.

Cisco-Eagle’s 2015 Employee Ownership Poster

November 24, 2015

ESOP poster

Cisco-Eagle runs an annual contest to design an employee ownership poster. Amanda Miller, systems design engineer with Cisco Eagle’s Systems & Design group in Tulsa, Oklahoma, created this year’s winning image. Amanda says her submission was inspired by Mike Rowe’s Facebook post Take Ownership of Even the Dirty Jobs from July 10, 2015.

Amanda wanted her illustration to portray “that, just like the things we personally own, we should treat everything involving our company/job/work like it is ours  – because it is!.” Being an employee owner to Amanda means she realizes more so that she is “an important piece of the whole. Having a ‘stake in the outcome’ makes even the smallest of job tasks seem that much more meaningful.”

Observing teamwork between employees and teams, inspires Amanda.

Joel Pason, Cisco-Eagle’s Oklahoma Manager of Systems & Design observed that “the poster is a great reminder of what it means to be an employee owner. Simply reading the words, preceded by MY, is the perfect way to re-center one’s perspective as an employee owner.”  Pason remarked that Amanda’s “personal accountability, and focus on our company, makes her a great employee owner.”

Miller’s poster will be submitted to represent Cisco-Eagle in the ESOP Associations’ annual contest.

Cisco-Eagle Places 2nd in Southwest ESOP Association BBQ Competition

November 11, 2015

Benny Bruner and Congressman Pete SessionsDallas, TX, October 30, 2015–The Southwest Chapter of the ESOP Association celebrated Employee-Ownership Month in the DFW Area on October 30 with its 8th Annual BBQ Cook-off hosted by Vermeer Texas-Louisiana. Congressman and ESOP advocate Pete Sessions of Texas was on hand as a guest judge. A few raindrops didn’t stop a great crowd from turning out to try some tasty BBQ chicken, ribs and brisket. Cisco-Eagle’s own Benny Bruner, took 2nd place with his mouthwatering brisket.

Bruner, an ace service technician from our Field Operations division, enjoys being an employee owner by watching how his decisions affect all of Cisco-Eagle. He remarked that “it’s not just a job”.

Donny Goforth, Manager of Cisco-Eagle’s service division, observed that Benny cares for his customers just the same way his cares for his brisket. Goforth acknowledged that “Benny is always eager to please and concerned each customer is happy.”

He also smokes a mean brisket!

The Case for Industrial Safety Training

April 30, 2015

Forklift Safety Needs

Statistics show that the single largest cause of accident and injury in the work place is human error. People sometimes doing things they know they shouldn’t, sometimes not knowing they shouldn’t, and sometimes not doing things they know they should. These are all classic cases of human error. These are the sins of commission (you did it), ignorance (you didn’t know), and omission (you knew but didn’t do what you should have).

The question people often have when they design warehouse work flow is, “how much can we lift by hand?” The answer to that question isn’t cut-and-dried. It all depends on the angle, the approach, the frequency, weight and reaching/twisting requirements.

Hytrol e24™ Rollers vs. Lineshaft and Conventional Motor Driven Rollers

April 21, 2015

Hytrol e24 conveyor sketch

Since Hytrol rolled out the e24™ 24-volt motor conveyor in 2008 at Pack Expo at the Cisco-Eagle booth, we have implemented many projects with the new technology. In fact, it has become 18% of power roller conveyor sales since then. Many manufacturers have copied the concept as well. Its advantages and cost savings are well documented, but this comparison takes it a step farther for several existing types of conveyors.
