Structural Pallet Racks for high traffic systems

High Capacity Structural Racks

structural pallet rack for heavy duty applications

Extreme collision resistance for heavy loads, high-throughput, and harsh conditions

Structural Pallet racks are constructed of hot rolled structural channel steel, extraordinarily capable of withstanding the wear and tear of the toughest environments. This makes structural channel type rack popular in harsh duty applications like freezers, coolers, and distribution facilities. It's offered in selective configurations, although it is commonly used in pushback, flow and drive-in applications. Offered here in selective configurations.

category blue arrowComplete Racks

Complete structural racks include everything you need to specify and order extremely strong, impact-resistant selective rack made with structural c-channel steel and erected with secure bolt-together connections. Choose starters and adders in heights from 8' to 16'.

category blue arrowUpright Frames

Upright is constructed of hot rolled structural 3" channel steel for extraordinarily resistance to the wear and tear of brutal industrial environments. toughest environments. Structural channel type rack is popular for use in freezers, coolers, and distribution facilities. Post widths of 3" and capacities up to 51,500 pounds.

category blue arrowBeams

Channel beam has a 7-gauge connector, featuring a wrap-around design with round holes rather than slots for a tight, uniform bolted connection to the frame. Each end of a load beam is bolted to the column with 2-each grade-5 bolts and nuts.

category blue arrowAccessories

Available accessories include beam ties to add carrying capacity or support pallets, and frame spacers to help align rows of racks. You can also add safety netting, backing, and column protectors from the selective rack area.

Structural Pallet Rack Specifications

Channel Bolted Pallet Rack Upright Frames

  • structural steel pallet rackUpright frame columns consist of 3" or 4" structural channel steel. Steel thickness—especially in corner sections—increases resistance to fork truck impact damage. It also increases load carrying capacity and resistance to seismic forces.
  • Upright frames are punched on 4" vertical centers. Beam connector clips specially punched allow for vertical adjustability in 2" increments.
  • Diagonal and horizontal braces are used throughout the entire frame... braces are, 2"x2" and 1.5"x1.5" structural angles welded to the columns. Up to 75% more substantial than competitive structural racks.
  • Footpads are made of 7-gauge steel plates and welded to each column, efficiently dispersing floor loads.
  • Each footpad features multiple anchor holes, facilitating installation and re-anchoring.
  • Has a safety factor equaling 1.92: 1.
  • Has minimum safety yields:
    • Columns = 50,000 p.s.i.
    • Balance = 36,000 p.s.i.
  • Capacities are based upon minimum steel yields rather than the actual average steel yield we receive. Capacities, on average, will be greater than those stated, and will never be less than stated.

Load Beams

  • Beams are constructed of either structural "C"-channel or formed step beams. This allows us to provide you the most effective and economical rack for your load and usage patterns.
  • All beams are constructed of high-strength (50,000 p.s.i. minimum) steel. Our capacities are based on minimum steel strength, not the average. Actual capacity for all our beams is equal to or greater than listed capacity.
  • Has a safety factor equaling 1.67: 1.

structural rack beam connectionBeam Connections

  • Beam connectors are constructed of heavy 5-gauge steel plates, featuring a wrap-around design.
  • Beams are bolted to the upright frame column, allowing no need for an extra safety lock to secure the connection.
  • Each end of each load beam is bolted to the column with two grade-5 bolts and nuts, providing 57% higher moment capacity than a one-bolt design.
  • Every connector plate features round holes, not slots. This and the use of two bolts instead of one, eases installation by providing automatic "squaring and "plumbing" of the rack, without the use of come-alongs or turnbuckles.
  • Bolted beams are easily adjustable in 2" vertical increments and can be adjusted just as easily and quickly as boltless designs. Up to 50% greater adjustability than competitive structural racks.
  • Bolted connections are designed to exceed RMI standards and will withstand an accidental upward impact of 1,000 lbs, for operational safety.
