Carton Flow Specification: How to Configure Deck Style Span Track
- We also offer a detailed application request form for information submittals
Patented deck style Span Track is among the easiest, fastest ways to convert pallet rack into gravity flow. It can be added to any single-deep standard rack beam, in depths of 36" to 60".
Outside-to-Outside Dimension
The first step is to establish the front-to-back depth of the track. This is based on a dimension called the outside-to-outside dimension.

The outside to outside dimension is the level distance between the outside of the front and back uprights. It's measured on the side of the rack frame. Deck tracks come in depths to match the most commonly-used rack depths, based on the out-to-out dimension. The out-to-out dimension must match the length of the track.
Available Spans: 3'0", 3'6", 4'0", 4'6", and 5'0".
Fitting Deck Carton Flow on the Beam
Deck requires no hangers, shelves, or retainers. This means you have a single piece of equipment to install. It is designed with a unique end cut so that it fits most standard beams. If you have custom beams or aren't certain, we will be happy to assist you.
Capacity
For all lengths of Deck track, the capacity is 50 pounds per foot.
Roller Centers - what to specify?

| Maximum Carton Length | Max. Roller Centers |
|---|---|
| 4" | 1" |
| 8" | 2" |
| 12" | 3" |
We offer 1", 2" and 3" roller centers. Cartons flow best when supported by at least four rollers. Poor quality boxes or heavier weights require closer spacing in order to achieve good flow.
Track Width - how wide?

Span-Track provides excellent product tracking. Guide rails are not required. It is acceptable for firm flat carton bottoms to be wider than actual track section. The table below details out the limits:
| Track Width |
Maximum Carton Width |
|---|---|
| 9" | 13-1/2" |
| 12" | 18" |
| 15" | 22-1/2" |
Setting the Pitch
![]()
For Deck Span Track carton flow, set the pitch at 1" per foot of depth. Pitch requirements can vary depending on the firmness of the carton against tracking and the weight of the conveyed cartons. You should test your product upon installation to be certain that it flows correctly with the pitch you have set.
