Deck Options Information and Commentary

Roof deck is the most common type of decking. Also known as B-Deck or corrugated steel, it can be finished with a variety of surfaces, from plywood to floor plate to concrete.

Roof Deck

20 gauge painted steel roof deck (AKA B-Deck, Corrugated Steel)

20 gauge painted steel roof deck is almost always accompanied by another flooring surface.

Roof Deck & Plywood

20 gauge painted steel roof deck* with 3/4" plywood.

Most economical system. Satisfactory for most mezzanine floor usage. Can be painted or coated with urethane.

20 gauge painted steel roof deck* with specialty wood (straight edge or tongue & groove).

Recommended for heavier traffic usage and in-plant offices. Can be painted or coated with urethane.
Roof Deck & Diamond Floor Plate

20 gauge painted steel roof deck* with 12 gauge unpainted floor plate. (Note: Galvanized floorplate over roof deck is an option.)

Recommended where local loads could be abusive or where non-combustibility is required. 18 gauge galvanized roof decks should be considered with floor plate.
Roof Deck & Specialty Panel

20 gauge painted steel roof deck* with specialty panel.

Use where non-skid or harder surface properties are required.
Roof Deck & Concrete
 

20 gauge painted steel roof deck* with light-weight concrete.

For fire ratings and/or chemical applications. NOTE: Mezzanine is no longer demountable with this deck.
Bar Grating

1" x 1/8" painted steel bar grating (NAAMM).

Open design for ventilation and/or fire regulation. If assembly processes with small parts are present, this decking isn't recommended since parts could fall through.

Specialty Grating
 

Many fiberglass or plastic gratings available for specialized applications.

Use where chemical or non-conductivity properties are required.

Mezzanine Roof Deck

20 gauge painted steel roof deck is almost always accompanied by another flooring surface. That can include Plywood, metal plate, specialty, or other surfaces.

Roof Deck & Plywood Top

20 gauge painted steel roof deck with 3/4" plywood. Most economical system. Satisfactory for most mezzanine floor usage. Can be painted or coated with urethane. With specialty wood (straight edge or tongue & groove), you can change the style of your flooring (Recommended for heavier traffic usage and in-plant offices. Can be painted or coated with urethane.)
