Forget the days of grabbing a compressed gas cylinder and hugging, lugging and twirling it around and around in order to get the thing where you need it. You never used to think of the danger you were inviting by such actions - but drop that tank where it falls and knocks off or cracks the regulator neck, and you've just created an out-of-control rocket. By keeping tanks securely anchored at all times, you prevent the potential for injury and death, as well as damage to equipment and facility structures. Compressed gas cylinders should NEVER be lifted, transported or moved without securing to an appropriate lifting or transport device. Even if you must move tanks manually, use some kind of device that keeps the tank controlled at all times. Be safe. Keep compressed gas cylinders securely anchored to stable, sturdy carts, hand trucks, dollies, wall brackets or locked in storage cages. |
