Everything you like about carousel systems except the 6-figure price

The most economical vertical carousel system in the industry saves space, increases operational speed, and protects inventory at a fraction of the cost of automated carousels. These carousels are everything you need when it comes to a carousel, and much of what you do not, at a fraction of fully-automated costs. They are powered carousels, but designed for easy push-button, manual control. Frequently used in home improvement store retail applications, they're now available for use in industrial, warehousing, distribution, assembly, and manufacturing operations.  

Tray system carousels deliver:

  • A 70% rate of recovered floor space. You can consolidate racks, flow storage, shelving and other storage media into a JD Associates carousel
  • A reduction in forklift dependency due to consolidating racks into the carousel for order picking

Considerations for installation:

  • Dock access is needed for unloading the machinery.
  • A significant amount of the installation is completed prior to standing the machine, while it is still on its side on the floor.
  • On average, a 30’ x 40’ area should be cleared and available for the installation process.
  • 12" of clearance from the top of the machine to the ceiling is needed to stand the machine. (Building codes in some areas require clearance up to 18".)
  • A 3,000 lb forklift truck is required for equipment installation.
  • The average installation takes about six hours once the machinery is off the truck.
  • Electrical requirements: 480V/230V (+/- 10%), 3-phase, 60 Hz, 20 amp. dedicated circuit.
  • Hardwire or plug capabilities, with NEMA L15-20R socket is needed for plug-in.
  • Care is taken to make sure the machine is square and level and that the appropriate safety accessories are installed.
  • Thunderstuds are used to secure the machinery to the floor (length is determined by seismic considerations).
  • During the test run, final adjustments are made to insure that the chain has proper tension and that the hooks and carriers are properly installed.
  • Once the installation is complete, the area will be cleaned of shipping materials and debris.
  • As a final step, our installer will provide Product Knowledge Training to the appropriate personnel.

Switch-operated powered vertical carousels offer the rotating tray configuration of conventional vertical carousels, but do not have automated software controls, WMS, or pick light options - meaning they are dramatically less expensive. Controlled manually, they provide the core value of a carousel: they bring product to the picker, rather than having the picker go to product, for about 1/5 of the cost of automated carousel systems. A brilliantly simple push button control allows the order picker to access the correct carousel tray when it's needed. This helps to dramatically cut costs by eliminating automation software and WMS tie-in's.
