When you need conveyor quickly, what really matters is how it's shipped...

Most conveyor manufacturers produce at least some stock conveyors, and claim to ship them in 24 hours. But what can really make the difference is not how fast it's shipped, but how it is packaged, handled, designed and processed. Does the conveyor fit your application? Is it packaged to avoid freight damage - and the delays that accompany damage? Is it wired for easy, fast setup? Getting conveyors from quick ship programs: not apples to apples...

Make sure your pallet rack beams are being loaded correctly for safety, capacity

Pallet rack beam capacity ratings are based on "evenly distributed loads". This refers to the front-to-back direction as well as horizontally along the beam width. But what does that really mean? How can you be certain that the way you load your racks isn't reducing beam capacities? Here are some answers...

Save space with over-conveyor workstations

How  can you squeeze that extra bit of operational space from your warehouse? At times, part of the issue isn't overall space, but space in critical areas -- like near the conveyor lines. Over-The-Conveyor workstations may be part of the answer. Specifically engineered for conveyor applications where floor space is tight and the need for work space is significant, they literally can help give you workstations where there might otherwise have only been unused air-space. We've seen them used for carton void filling, packing, manifesting, testing, small parts assembly, computer stands, etc.

Of course, there are only a few ideas here, but since they are completely modular and customizable, you can get pretty much what you want...

The forklift is the most dangerous thing in your facility. How to stay safe...

In the U.S. alone, 1,021 workers died from traumatic injuries suffered in forklift-related incidents from 1980 to 1994.

Each year tens of thousands of injuries related to powered industrial trucks, or forklifts, occur in workplaces nationwide. Such accidents also kill more than 100 workers a year. Ensure your company doesn't add to these statistics. One of the recommendations safety experts make is to reduce to the minimum possible the total number of forklifts in your operation. It makes sense because that's fewer drivers (and you can better train the ones you do have), and fewer chances for an accident.
