Dr. Sam Chen Joins Cisco-Eagle as Senior Robotics and Software Engineer

Dr. Sam Chen has joined Cisco-Eagle, Inc., a Dallas material handling systems integrator as Senior Robotic and Software Engineer according to Mike Palmison, Cisco-Eagle’s Vice President of Systems & Design. According to Mr. Palmison, Dr. Chen will focus on robotics integration and automation in the company’s systems division.

Chen received his BSME from Tsinghua University in Beijing. “Tsinguhua is widely considered the foremost university for engineering in China,” Palmison said.

Chen moved to the United States and obtained his MSME and PhD from the University of Notre Dame on a full scholarship. During that time, he was a Teaching and Research Assistant at the Vision-Guided Robotics Lab and created several robotic systems with industrial and aerospace applications. In particular, the de-palletizing robot won him the research funding from Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation.

After graduation, he first joined a R&D team, developing stereovision-guided robots. Then he spent several years in the material-handling industry, designing robotic systems for palletizing, de-palletizing, packaging, and other typical applications.

“I’m excited to join Cisco-Eagle in expanding its product portfolio to more material-handling robots and advanced control systems,” Chen said.
