Vertical Lift Enclosures

Open mesh design prevents access to hazardous areas without blocking the operators view

When planning your vertical lift or vertical reciprocating conveyor project consider the enclosure portion as a vital part of your success.

Safe operation of vertical conveying systems requires an enclosure that protects employees from moving parts as well as spilled loads. Woven Wire Partitions are especially well suited for this application. The partitions open mesh design prevents access to hazardous areas without blocking the operators view. The system is strong enough to contain most spills, and it's stackable design makes it adaptable to the various conditions where vertical lifts are installed.

The configurations available for your lift enclosure are virtually limitless. For example, a lift may be surrounded by a single enclosure made from stock panels and posts. A tall enclosure, that spans multiple levels, can be built with standard panels and special length posts. Separate enclosures can be constructed on each level served by the lift. In any case, our system allows you the versatility to combine stock items and non-stock items to build a custom enclosure at an affordable price.

Access to the lift can be controlled with any of our standard size hinged, sliding, or vertical rise gates. These doors can be fitted with electric interlocks which shut the system down when they are opened. Standard locks are also available.

Enclosure Layouts

This illustration shows one continuous enclosure that covers two levels. Enclosures of this type may be built up to 35'high. Stock size panels simply stack between support posts.

Note the ground level vertical rise gate. The gate slides up and out of the way, allowing clear access while loading the lift. A double hinged gate was used on the mezzanine level where overhead space is limited. This set of gates provides a large opening while using the smallest amount of mezzanine space.

Planning Tips:

  • Size the enclosure by allowing three inches of clearance on all sides of the lift (mast plus platform).

  • Determine height of the enclosure(s). Free standing units on each level or one continuous unit for multiple levels are available.

  • Decide the type and locate the position of doors for access to the platform.

  • A door for maintenance access to the mast may be desired.

  • Doors should have latching hardware with knobs on both sides.

  • We can supply doors fitted with mounting plates for electric interlocks, which shut down the machine when the door is opened. (Interlocks by others).
