Coil Spooling Station
This unit was designed to handle 300 lb. coils of copper air conditioner tubing. A gantry robot places these coils on the support arms which are attached to the Hytrol Model CRR conveyor.
An operator at the
station places a spool side on a centering pin which is in the center of
the conveyor. After cutting off the bands and trimming the ends of the
tubing, the conveyor is raised until the spool side touches the bottom
of the support plates. A cardboard spreader hub is inserted into the
inside of the spool. The support plates are then retracted, the conveyor
lowered, and the spool moves down the line to shipping.
This operation is done at one station where previously two stations were required.
