Conveyor
Weigh Legs: A solution for parcel and other kinds of shipping
operations

Utilizing inline weigh measurement and check weighing save steps and increases productivity...
Weigh Legs are
bolt-on frames that add in-line weighing capabilities to ordinary conveyor sections. This product offers weighing of both static and
in-motion conveyor loads, ideal for many applications including check
weighing of boxed goods and crates, shipping and mailing.
Do weigh legs make sense for your operation?
It's difficult to underestimate the amount
of time that can be saved by parcel ship operations without knowing the
particulars of the application. In general, a look at your current scale
stations can provide more information. Is the weighing process a
bottleneck? Can you envision a time savings per shipment that justifies
automation? If so, you may want to consider adding this capacity to your
shipping system.
Weigh Legs can Quickly turn conveyors into in-line
weighing systems. This is great for facilities that deal with large
numbers of parcel or other weight critical shipments.
One shipping operation reports tremendous
gains related to inline weighing systems. "This system limits the number
of chances people have to make an error," said a senior distribution
manager for Fujitsu Network Communications.

story on Fujitsu's shipping system upgrades).
They are available in a good range of sizes
and capacities. 3 different weight
capacities. Capacities: 250 lb, 500 lb and 1,000 lb. per Weigh Leg
frame. Total scale capacity is double the individual frame rating. When
selecting a capacity, the weight of the conveyor section must be factored
in. For many applications, this provides a level of capacity combined with
the ease of accurate weighing that makes sense for shipping area
conveyors.
Another interesting feature is that they
can be installed into existing facilities and systems. Most conveyors can
be retrofitted with in-line Weigh Legs. A selection of Weigh-Tronix
indicators matched to operational requirements are available.
Installation Issues
Bolt-on Weigh Leg frames replace existing
conveyor legs. Junction boxes include pre-wired input and output cables
for fast setup. Typically, two frames are required per conveyor. For
static applications that require the use of two conveyor sections to
create a longer weighing platform, a third frame is installed where the
sections are joined together.
