Whether the load is a single item or a bundle of them (like lumber, tubing, or pipes), as long as you understand the load, these racks are ideal storage. One key to correctly loading and specifying them is nailing the necessary lateral spacing vs. load weight so that you have enough arms beneath the load.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Problems can occur when your cantilever racking is improperly specified or improperly loaded. Many of\u00a0 the issues people have with them is when older racks are re-tasked to hold a new load, or used racks are added to an installation where little is known about the rack&#8217;s capacity or history. Here are some general guidelines:<\/p>\n<h3>Get the lateral spacing right:<\/h3>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/\/www.cisco-eagle.com\/images\/category\/Cantilever-Racks\/arm-spacing.jpg\" alt=\"cantilever rack lateral spacing\" width=\"356\" height=\"169\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<h4>Lateral spacing notes<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Lateral spacing is the distance between cantilever arms.<\/li>\n<li>If you don&#8217;t have enough space to hold your load and prevent it from sagging, you need more arms.<\/li>\n<li>If you don&#8217;t have enough arms, the rated capacity of each arm is diminished.<\/li>\n<li>The load needs to overhang the end arms by half the distance from the center of one upright to the center of the next.<\/li>\n<li>You can test your load by laying down wood blocks on the floor, and then placing your load on them.
