Separate workers and equipment from the hazards of forklift traffic with a physical barrier. This multi-rail system combines flexible handrail with a floor level guard rail underneath. Its polyolefin rails and shock absorbing posts can take a hit from a forklift then return to their original shape, protecting what is behind the barrier, reducing damage to the forklift and rail system, and lowering repair and replacement costs.
The handrail consists of 46.5" high black posts supporting three tiers of safety yellow rail. With a top rail that is 43.4" high, it's tall enough to safeguard pedestrians and prevent them stepping over the barrier. Below the handrail is a thicker guard rail, also yellow, anchored at floor level by iron post ends. This 9" high rail stops items from sliding or being pushed under the handrail, which is particularly helpful in areas where loading and unloading take place close to the barrier.
Designing a Flexible Handrail & Floor Level Guard Rail System:
Being modular, this rail system can fit into virtually any space. When designing your layout, consider the following:
- Posts must be anchored in minimum 3,000 psi concrete
- An End Post begins or ends a run
- A Middle Post extends a straight run
- A Corner Post incorporates a 90-degree turn into your layout
- Start a separate run if an angle other than 90 degrees is required
- Rails are sized to fit between posts set on 60" centers
- If a shorter section is needed, rails can be cut down to length in the field
- A Swing Gate provides pedestrian access through the barrier and should be installed between two End Posts spaced 38.5" apart
