The Walkway Alert System is used in high risk areas where pedestrian traffic and forklift traffic can often cross paths or come in close proximity of each other. Unlike the standard forklift proximity systems, the Walkway Alert places the antennas and control boxes in static locations while the forklift, not the pedestrians, carries the transponder tag.
Here, the forklift has been equipped with a transponder tag, the antenna has been placed outside of a high traffic doorway and the control units are fixed to the wall along the walkway. When the forklift enters the antenna's detection zone outside the doorway, the tag triggers the audible/visual alarm of the control units along the wall. The alarm lets anyone along the walkway or those about to step outside of the door that there is a forklift operating nearby.
Similar to the system above, the forklift is carrying the transponder tag while the antennas have been set up all along the walkway. Here, each antenna is connected to a single wall-mounted control units so that their alarms will sound as the forklift moves in and out of each detection zone. This way, workers in the walkway will be able to see and hear the alarms as the forklift approaches.
This system is set up at a dock where forklifts and people need to work in the same areas and may constantly be crossing paths. The antennas and alarm units are set up outside of each dock door to pick up the signal from the forklift's transponder tag. Workers along the walkway are able to see which dock doors have a forklift operating just on the other side. Alarm posts can be tied into each of the dock alarms to go off simultaneously to alert workers about to enter that walkway.
