Proper storage for compressed gas
When storing compressed gas cylinders, it's important to see that they are properly stored so as to prevent accidentally tipping the cylinders over and risking that a valve head get knocked off the cylinder. Such an occurrence turns the cylinder into a projectile much like a missile - it will be propelled by the escaping compressed gas and can become a very dangerous object. Serious injuries have been incurred by such situations.
There are several storage options for gas cylinders: caddies, stands, and cabinets or cages. By far, cabinets (or cages) are the safest storage method because they totally enclose the cylinders and often have locking panels, preventing access except by authorized personnel. Additional benefits include the organized storage space, the reduced risk of a cylinder falling, and the protective cage around the cylinders that helps keep them safe from being hit with a forceful projectile causing an explosion
Protect your facility and your workers. Keep gas cylinders safely stored in appropriate security cages.
