When Ordering Seismic Rack
While most seismic zoning requires 5" x 7" welded upright base plates, some higher risk areas require larger ones. To ensure code compliance, our engineers double-check every seismic rack order before it is shipped. We will contact you before processing your order if any changes are needed that affect price or lead times. Upright frame sizes and capacities
In general, overall capacities are dependent on the upright capacities. Upright strength and capacity is dependent on the frame size. For this seismic pallet rack, there are two upright frame sizes: 3" x 1-5/8" and 3" x 3".
The smaller frame (3" x 1-5/8") is fine for lighter pallet loads with total capacities from 19,300 lbs. to 25,040 lbs. per upright frame.
The larger frame (3" x 3") is intended for higher loads ranging from 27,870 lbs. to 34,840 lbs.
Seismic Base Plates
5" x 7" welded base plates are used in seismic pallet rack for added stability against lateral and front-to-back motion upon impact or during seismic activity. These larger base plates help prevent the pallet rack from collapsing by providing a sturdy base footing for the rack columns.
