Dock Safety Gate Operation
The safety beam operates through a counterbalance system stored in the vertical upright sides. On manually operated gates, a safety release allows the barrier to rise at a gentle rate, while a pull strap allows the user to easily return the safety beam to its resting position. Electric gates are operated by a controller that actuates the counterbalance winch.
The safety beam sits at a 30" height to help prevent forklifts from passing through the opening when the dock door is open but a trailer isn't present, or when you want to impede access to a trailer. Its steel beam is designed to withstand impact forces up to 10,000 pounds moving at 4 mph. Once work is completed in the trailer, the gate is then lowered.
Installation
Mounting the barrier gate system to the building is done using galvanized concrete wedge anchors. Follow instructions included with the gate for installing controls, limiters and optional components.
System Integration
Electric gates can be integrated with existing door, dock leveler, vehicle restraint and communication systems to provide a comprehensive safety system at the dock where the barrier gate is synchronized with other dock mechanisms to offer optimal safety precautions.
