This 12' x 12' foot platform with a clearance of 21" is ideal for utilizing otherwise unusable space where conduit or pipeline runs across a floor space. Stairs feature strong surface treads that securely mount to durable aluminum stringers and handrails that offer sturdy support. For added safety, platforms have a non-slip surface and are guarded on the edges with handrails and kickplates for fall protection. Units ship broken down for lower freight fees, and the modular components bolt together for quick installation as well as disassembly and relocation. Building a work platform
Each work platform is built from a modular system consisting of platforms, handrails, and supports, which include stairs, towers, and ladders. Each component has specific features that contribute to the overall strength and durability of the completed platform.
Custom platforms may be created by selecting the appropriate components to construct the needed configuration. And since all of the components are modular, they can be added onto or repurposed into another configuration if your facility layout or access needs change.
Universal platforms
Platform modules are constructed from stamped aluminum, which minimizes welds while increasing overall strength. This higher quality production means each piece is exactly the same as the one before it, with identical bolt hole configurations on all sides permitting connection to stairs, ladders, support towers, and other platforms.
Modules are sturdy enough to span 3 platforms wide and 3 deep before additional support is needed. When exceeding 3 platforms bolted to each other in-line, add support towers for intermediate support.
Safety stairs
Stair units are available in 1 through 6 step configurations. If more steps are needed, 3 through 6 step base units may be stacked with extender units to elevations up to 15 steps high.
Stairs arrive ready for assembly. Each stair unit includes stringers, treads, handrails and all hardware for assembly. Steps are set at a 9" rise and step width of 32". Each tread has a slip resistant surface and handrails are finished in ANSI Safety Yellow.
Stair units MUST be anchored to the floor before use of the crossover, or serious injury could occur.
Support towers
Support towers are two-legged structure with the same bolt-hole configuration as the bottom of the platform, and they add versatility to your crossover configuration. Place one where more than 3 platforms in a row span an open area, at the end of a dead-end span, or to make turns in a stair configuration to save floor space.
Towers must be anchored to the floor in order to provide adequate stability to the crossovers they are part of.
Ladders
When space is precious and too confined for stairs, consider installing a ladder. While ladders are not convenient for carrying materials, they do provide access to service ports and equipment maintenance doors in tight places.
Each ladder module is built from 26" wide rungs spaced on 10" centers, with handrails on both sides. It attaches to an included support tower, which provides platform stability beneath that end of the crossover.
Safety handrails
Handrail units include toe-boards and are universally sized to fit the bolt-hole pattern of the platform. The durable rails are constructed of 2" dia. round pipe and finished with ANSI Safety Yellow for high visibility and pleasing appearance.
Place handrails on the outer edges of the platform to protect workers from fall hazards.
