When you need a workhorse forklift for repetitive vertical transfers and horizontal transport of large, heavy loads over long distances, the A8 is the ideal solution. Its impressive 6,600 lb capacity (thanks to a heavy counterbalance) and 34' reach height enable expedited handling of most palletized loads in a wide range of applications.
These driverless vehicles make light work of tasks that are difficult for human forklift operators to achieve safely, such as ASRS and conveyor interfacing and cold storage transfers. A8 AGVs are often equipped with dual forks for incredible efficiency gains in block stacking; picking and delivery; trailer loading and unloading; and other workaday handling tasks in high-volume warehouses and distribution centers. Highly maneuverable Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) configurations are also a popular option for the A8.
Navigation Methods: There are a number of guidance options available for A8 robotic vehicles. Some are better suited to handle future path modifications or respond to everyday changes in their operating environment. From least to most flexible, they include inductive wire, painted line, magnetic tape, magnetic spot, QR code, contour, and laser guidance. Laser guidance can even accommodate multiple travel paths.
Transfer Unit Types: A standard front-loading forklift with counterbalance is the typical, most versatile configuration of the A8. But it is also available as a side loader with conveyor, side loader with reach fork, and tower/tugger for more specialized applications.
In addition to navigation and material handling options, battery type and charging methods are important considerations, as they impact the uptime of autonomous vehicles. The A8 can utilize either Li-Fe, TTPL, or Lead-acid batteries and can stay powered through battery swapping (automatic or manual) or opportunity charging.
