Modular drawer storage cabinets suit a wide range of applications and are made for versatility. You can specify the number of drawers compartment sizes, and lots more . Their base cabinets (which can also serve as workbench pedestals) let you install drawers, shelves and/or roll-out trays in any combination or sequence. These can be rearranged at any time. Also, plastic lift-out trays are available, meaning you can pick a bin, use it, and return to the drawer for more storage and picking flexibility.
A key to warehouse ergonomics is accessibility. Modular drawer systems have ergonomic design for easy, safe access with a minimum of stress and strain. People can reach the full depth of most drawers with ease, as opposed to (for instance) pulling a shelf bin from overhead at the back of a 7' shelf to pick the same part, so your people aren't stretching and reaching as often. They aren't pulling a heavy bin off a low shelf and stooping to do it. You can integrate modular drawers for the higher-volume items into the "golden" ergonomic zone that lets you pick the right item at the right height at the right time with a minimum of musculoskeletal distress.
Storage density is a big reason to use modular drawer systems. You can get cabinets in heights, widths and depths for almost any floor plan, and they concentrate storage much better than alternatives like static shelving or bulk racks. When space is critical, and you have applications that fit the profile, modular drawers will allow you to store far more in the same physical footprint. Shelving is larger and less concentrated. While every application is different, space savings of 70% are typical when comparing shelving + bins to modular drawers. You can also consider a mixed system, that combines shelving for larger items and uses modular drawer inserts for concentrated storage. See Organization, Space and Modular Drawers for more details.
All cabinets permit installation of drawers, shelves and roll-out trays. They can be placed in the housing in any combination or sequence and rearranged at any time. Other cabinet options include:
