Heavy duty enclosed track conveyor is comprised of a continuous chain running inside a cross-shaped track. A drive unit grabs and moves the chain, which a take-up unit keeps tensioned to prevent bunching. Variable speed controls start and stop the entire line, which moves synchronously; loads travel in unison and are always the same distance apart.
Loads are attached to the chain via pendants that protrude from a narrow slot in the track. Each pendant can support up to 220 pounds when the track is "slotted" downward with the load below the track; a load bar hung from two pendants has a capacity of 440 pounds. Capacity is lower if the track is slotted upward or sideways.
The entire conveyor system may be suspended from the arms of structural steel floor supports or from ceiling attachments that work with steel beams, wood joists, concrete, etc.
Heavy duty conveyor is often the best choice for moving products through finishing processes where manual handling can be dangerous or damage the product. Its heat and corrosion resistance help it withstand curing ovens and chemical wash areas. It easily incorporates declines and inclines needed in heavy parts dip lines. It is especially useful for high quality paint lines; it can be run with the load above the track, so there is no chance of dust or debris accumulating on the track and falling onto wet paint.
Overhead conveyor is ideal for assembly lines because it provides access to every side of the product and presents it at an ergonomic work height. You can adjust conveyor speed to suit the rate of production or use optional indexing controls to move loads a pre-set distance between stops for loading, unloading, and assembly. Pacline can provide custom load carriers for damage-free handling of almost any item.
Other applications, including accumulation and storage of work-in-progress, are also possible.
