A San Antonio manufacturer of engineered construction components needed to consolidate its operations into an efficient space. A combination of specialized modular buildings were used to accomplish this goal.
The client designs and manufactures engineered components used in concrete and structural construction. The San Antonio facility utilizes a mix of metal fabrication and plastics manufacturing to produce "hidden hardware" for the building industry, including connectors for concrete panels, facade anchors, and rebar couplers.
The manufacturer needed to consolidate two separate facilities into one centralized operation that required over 2,500 square feet of specialized workspace. They needed a flexible solution that could support administrative, production, and quality control teams while maintaining the ability to reconfigure the layout as the business grows.
The project consists of four distinct in-plant structures, each purpose-built for a specific functional need:
| Category | Description |
|---|---|
| Climate Control | Given the Texas climate, each structure was outfitted with its own dedicated HVAC system to ensure year-round employee comfort. |
| Visibility | Half-glass hollow metal doors and tempered windows were used to keep sightlines open to the production floor. |
| Compliance | Every structure utilized 3-inch thick, three-ply vinyl-covered gypsum wall panels and was engineered to meet 2015 IBC Type IIB requirements. |
| Integration | Systems featured modular electrical packages with 125 AMP main lug load centers and energy-efficient LED lighting. |
The installation successfully centralized operations without the disruption of traditional construction. The manufacturer gained a professional, versatile work environment with the ability to relocate or reconfigure any of the four structures as facility needs change.
