Middle posts for floor level rail systems are used to create runs of guardrail by joining two pieces of flexible rail. They anchor to the concrete and have openings on two sides that accommodate the rail. Rubber dampeners on the anchor bolts help to protect the floor of the facility by displacing the force of an impact when the impact occurs on either the guard rail or to the post itself. If the post is struck head on, the ductile iron flexes and then displaces the rest of the energy to the dampeners. If the post, or any other part of the guard rail is damaged, the piece can be replaced without having to replace the whole system, helping to reduce replacement costs.
