FAQ: Pallet rack systems in Dallas & North Texas

What areas does Cisco-Eagle's Dallas team serve for pallet rack installations?
Cisco-Eagle designs and installs pallet rack systems throughout Texas and nationwide, with experienced design and implementation personnel based in Dallas for service in DFW and across Texas. Because our Dallas office is our headquarters, local customers have quick access to our specialists, sales teams and inventories.
We'll help you specify, lay out and install a rack system that meets your storage density, strategic and safety goals.
What are the lead times for pallet rack systems in Dallas and North Texas?
- Since we stock pallet racks in Dallas, we can ship in a day, depending on quantities and applications.
- For engineered dynamic systems like drive-in, pushback, or pallet flow systems, timelines depend on application and scope. We can start the specification process for dynamic racks very quickly.
- Larger projects may extend lead due to sourcing and inventory level factors.
Do you provide on-site consultations?
Absolutely. We specialize in hands-on, in-person service that helps our customers achieve their goals.
Our Dallas-based team provides on-site consultations, walk-throughs, and design services throughout all of Texas and nationwide. We'll help you measure, specify and design the best option for your operation based on your needs and situation. This is a critical phase of pallet rack projects where our team meets you, discusses your needs and finds the best solution.
How does Cisco-Eagle differ from forklift dealers?
Most forklift dealers consider racks an "allied product", which means it's a sideline to the more important work selling and maintaining forklift fleets. Cisco-Eagle's team is focused solely on your warehouse layout, processes, efficiency and safety. For us, pallet rack is a core business.
Secondly, we have more breadth. We integrate rack storage systems with the rest of the operation. That means seeing the operation from a strategic viewpoint: how does the rack system integrate with your shipping and receiving operation? How does it work with the production side? Would a pick module make sense for your space requirements? Where does your rack system interface with other storage or product movement systems? We think about and consider these factors in a way forklift dealers mostly don't.
We're also well-versed with dynamic systems, and that requires racking systems expertise that many forklift dealers or used providers simply do not have. Some of them rely on manufacturers to provide engineering services, rather than their own personnel. The problem is that is remote and removed from other operational considerations. We routinely provide high-level design and specification service with teams in DFW and North Texas who can drive to your facility every day, walk it, and understand it thoroughly.
What's the difference between Cisco-Eagle pallet rack solutions and other distributors and integrators?
We bring scale, experience and resources most distributors can't match.
- We have a full stocking warehouse in Dallas. Most integrators don't bother with a warehouse at all. We're the only Dallas area distributor-integrator who stocks Steel King pallet rack inventory in significant amounts.
- But it's also scale: We've been the nation's best-selling distributor for Steel King racks for years. We've won the company's most valuable dealer too many times to count. The scope of our experience helps our customers find the right solution faster.
- We're the only Dallas area that provides a quick-to-use selective rack calculator and online resources like our pallet rack blog and downloadable guides. We have all of our stock always updated on our website with full ecommerce options for thousands of pallet rack components and full rack systems. Most distributor-integrators rely on canned ecommerce or don't bother at all.
- Experience matters, too. And not just a couple of people--an entire team right in DFW. We've implemented rack projects in every U.S. state and multiple countries. If you have an integrated network, we can serve all your locations.
- We have some people with longer experience than most other competitors' companies have existed at all.
- We're the only integrator in the area with a field services team focused only on material handling equipment, including racks.
How do you deal with permitting, compliance and fire code issues?
We provide resources for issues pertaining to sprinkler clearance, flue space, and other code requirements in alignment with applicable building and fire codes.

Seismic codes in North Texas
North Texas is a low-seismic region, but pallet racks still require code-based seismic checks. Here's a practical approach your engineer and installer can follow, with sources linked:
- Confirm the governing code: verify what your city has adopted. Dallas uses the 2021 International Building Code (with local amendments).
- Establish site seismic parameters: obtain Ss, S1, SDS, SD1, and Seismic Design Category using the official tools, then confirm the site class with your geotechnical report. Use the USGS design maps or the ASCE Hazard Tool: USGS U.S. Seismic Design Maps and ASCE Hazard Tool.
- Design to rack standards: rack calculations should follow the Rack Manufacturers Institute specification (ANSI MH16.1), which aligns seismic provisions with ASCE 7.
- Check anchorage and slab capacity: verify anchor type, embedment, edge distances, and slab thickness/joint layout; low seismic hazard does not waive anchorage or stability checks. Include baseplate/anchor details in the PE-stamped package (referencing IBC/ASCE 7 and ANSI MH16.1).
- Document in the submittal: list the governing code edition and amendments, site class, mapped/design spectral values, SDC, and the rack design criteria (R, Ω0, allowable drifts) used in the calculations so plan reviewers can verify. For Dallas, include this with your building permit upload and coordinate with the fire/HPS review paths noted above.
