At Cisco-Eagle, Employee Ownership is Far More Than Just a Retirement Plan
At Cisco-Eagle, we are active and passionate about employee ownership. So many of us have spent our lives building this company and our shares in it that we like to analyze and discuss ways to make our company better and improve our ability to serve customers.
And of course, we like to have a little fun. In November, our ESOP Advisory Committee held a contest that let our employee-owners submit small essays on why our ESOP is more than just a retirement program to them. The winner got to throw a pie in the face of Randy Williams, our CFO.

Cisco-Eagle wins ESOP “Communications Excellence: Best Print Media for 2016”
From left: Missy Prince (Cisco-Eagle Employee-Owner), Michael Keeling (National ESOP Association President), Rosemary Weiland (Cisco-Eagle Employee-Owner), Jim Schranz (The Southwest Chapter of the ESOP Association President), Bob Hauck (Cisco-Eagle Employee-Owner).
In the early spring of 2015, Cisco-Eagle assembled some special work teams to complete a session of Process Improvement Training. Five employee-owners were designated to participate on the ESOP process improvement training. During six sessions, our team independently identified the need for a ‘re-branding’ of the company ESOP.
The team decided to adopt a theme to celebrate the financial upswing Cisco-Eagle has enjoyed over recent years: Rockin’ to Retirement—symbolic of the economic postwar boom America enjoyed during the 1950s—was selected to send the message that happy days are, indeed, here again. The theme logo was prominently displayed on each ESOP communication shared with employee-owners in emails, monthly company newsletter, monthly EAC newsletter, on company bulletin boards and in company meetings.

Cisco-Eagle Places 2nd in Southwest ESOP Association BBQ Competition
Dallas, TX, October 30, 2015–The Southwest Chapter of the ESOP Association celebrated Employee-Ownership Month in the DFW Area on October 30 with its 8th Annual BBQ Cook-off hosted by Vermeer Texas-Louisiana. Congressman and ESOP advocate Pete Sessions of Texas was on hand as a guest judge. A few raindrops didn’t stop a great crowd from turning out to try some tasty BBQ chicken, ribs and brisket. Cisco-Eagle’s own Benny Bruner, took 2nd place with his mouthwatering brisket.
Bruner, an ace service technician from our Field Operations division, enjoys being an employee owner by watching how his decisions affect all of Cisco-Eagle. He remarked that “it’s not just a job”.
Donny Goforth, Manager of Cisco-Eagle’s service division, observed that Benny cares for his customers just the same way his cares for his brisket. Goforth acknowledged that “Benny is always eager to please and concerned each customer is happy.”
He also smokes a mean brisket!

Above: Tammy Barnes, Employee-Owner of the Year, and Cisco-Eagle President Darein Gandall.
Tammy Barnes has been named our 2013-2014 Employee-Owner of the Year.
The annual award is presented by the company’s ESOP Advisory Committee. It recognizes an employee-owner who has gone beyond what is expected to promote and support the ownership culture at Cisco-Eagle. This award is distinct because it is awarded directly by a committee of employees rather than senior management.

Cisco-Eagle named Southwest Chapter 2008 ESOP Company of the Year
It’s a point of pride for me that we’re an employee-owned company. We have been since 2000, and almost everyone who works here is a shareholder.
So it was a pleasure to hear that we’d won the ESOP Association’s Southwest Chapter 2008 ESOP Company of the Year award. On March 7, Cisco-Eagle’s ESOP committee members were presented this award at the association’s Spring Conference & Awards Dinner. Present were our ESOP Advisory Committee Chairman Randall Chamberlain, along with members Anne Miller and William Ellwood. With this award, we’ve been nominated for National ESOP Association company of the year.
